LA Guest Host & Art-full Ambassador: Meredith Maggiora

“Art is About Sharing Our Unique Experiences.”

This month we spoke to Meredith Maggiora, a Fashion Designer and art enthusiast living in Los Angeles, who is also a guest host and Art-full Ambassador!

Q: Tell us a little about yourself — where are you from, what do you do, and how long have you lived in LA?

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm a Swimwear Designer and I have been living in LA for over 15 years.

Q: What does art mean to you and what do you like most about it?

I believe art is about sharing our unique experiences through the medium of the artist's choice, and I love how that can take shape in an infinite number of forms. Each of us has our own viewpoint, unlike anyone else.

Q: What is your favorite art form or artist and why?

So many! I love paintings and I fell in love with Marie Laurencin’s work when I first went to the Musée De L’Orangerie in Paris years ago.

Q: What do you love most about living in LA, and do you have any favorite LA arts institutions?

I live in the Los Feliz neighborhood in LA where there is a real feeling of community, which is very different from what most people think of when they imagine LA. I love having so many experiences within my reach- whether it’s a museum, live music performances, or a walk through nature in Griffith Park. The art scene has really grown over the years too. I love the Broad Museum, LACMA, and also exploring the arts district in Downtown LA and discovering new galleries.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about your experiences with Women of Culture thus far and why are you excited about helping to expand the community in LA?

I’ve enjoyed meeting new people and the connections I have already made at every event. I feel like I meet a new friend every time! I believe the connections we make with one another are what life is all about and I would love to be a part of helping other women find the same. And we get to enjoy beautiful art and culture in the process!

You can meet Meredith (and other art-full women) in-person at the Santa Monica Rooftop Sunset Soiree on April 24th!
